About: 

Ko Phangan is an island located in Thailand and is famous for full Moon Party. Ko Phangan has two sister islands namely KoSamui at the south &Ko Tao at the north.

Location: The Gulf of Thailand in southeast Thailand located in SuratThani province.

History: 

Every place has its own History and Geography which makes it more interesting and makes it the best reason for travelling purpose. The name of Ko Phangan means Sand Bar. The island has been a long-time favourite for past kings. The population has increased steadily over the island population. During the 70’s mining industry took hold of the island. Later it failed then Tourism took over the economy of the island.

Geography: 

The interior of the islands are mountainous and are inaccessible. Ko Phangan is characterized by Limestone Hills. And there are Granite Boulders and these are surrounded by evergreen dry forest. The island was isolated from the mainland during World War 2. During 80’s the island was the famous destination for the backpackers. Presently it tops in the tourist destination. Many tourists pour into the island to watch the tropical beauty.

Local Languages spoken: Thai & English

Climate:

There are two major seasons alone in the southern Thailand. They are Wet & Dry season. The climate of Ko Phangan remains constant throughout the year. From September to November there would be heavy pours and it is best to avoid travelling at this time period. These monsoons tend to change by December.
Dry season starts from February to April where there may be slight pours. The islands are poured down with tourists during the period of November, December, February, March & August. If you arrive with these crowds you might also avail the low fares and discounts.

Divisions: 

Ko Phangan with Ko Tao forms the district. The district is divided into 3 subdistricts.

• Ko Phangan

• Ban Tai

• Ko Tao

Tourist Spots: 

There are various beaches where you can spend your time.

• Beaches: The beaches are accessible only by dirt road and some by sea travel. Important Beaches of the island are:

• South-Western beach- Ban Tai, HaadRinNai

• North Western Beach- Wok Tum, Hin Kong, Haad Son, Haad Yao (west), Haad Salad and Mae Haad

• Northern Beaches- Chaloklum Bay, Had Khuat (Bottle Beach)

• North Eastern Beaches- Haad Yao (east), Haad Salad (east), HaadSadet.

• South Eastern Beaches- Haad Yuan, HaadThian e Haad Yao.

• Full Moon Party:

It’s a worldwide famous party that is organized once in every month in these islands. The islands are purely famous for this party. Here the parties go on for the entire night.
