Nowadays, skyscrapers are a novel addition to the skylines of cities across the globe. The great skyscraper became popular in the late 19th century.

Today skyscrapers are increasing in large cities. And they are a symbol of a city’s economic power. Not only have they defined the skyline, but they also help to define the city’s identity. Some skyscrapers are labeled urban monstrosities, which spoil the skyline, while others are praised for their architectural designs.

Shanghai Tower:

Twisting to the sky with 128 floors that make the Shanghai Tower one of the tallest in the world. The design from Gensler embraces an inner glass facade and a twirling exterior. While inside the tower features nine zones created exterior not only provide a unique aesthetic as the third of three skyscrapers in close proximity but also offers an engineering benefit by reducing wind loads.

Though not the tallest skyscraper in the world, the Empire State Building is still one of the most iconic and immediately recognizable skyscrapers in the world. It is a cultural and architectural symbol featured in many famous films such as King Kong and Spiderman. The Empire State Building is the most popular outdoor observatory globally, offering impressive 360-degree views of New York City.

Burj Al Arab

Burj Al Arab overlooks the Persian Gulf on an artificially made island in Dubai.

It is known for its sail-like shape, which was designed to avoid coercing the beach with its shadow, and a platform near the roof was added to serve as a helipad.

The hotel's interior stands out for its splendid design with four swimming pools and with a private beach club. One of the restaurants is under the sea. Its walls are thick acrylic glass to withstand the water pressure, and guests can enter it through a tunnel. The Burj Al Arab is based on an artificial island connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. It is an iconic tower that is designed to symbolize Dubai’s urban transformation.

Kingdom Center Riyadh Saudi Arabia:

Kingdom Center Riyadh Saudi Arabia features an area offering a refreshing break from usual social norms in the region with shopping malls that includes a female-only “Ladies Kingdom." An entire floor is designated for women to shop freely without being covered.

Turning Torso Malmo Sweden:

Turning Torso Malmo Sweden is a white marble piece resembling the shape of a twisting human being. It was designed by Spanish architect, structural engineer, sculptor, and painter Santiago Calatrava. The spine-like skyscraper can turn a full 90 degrees from top to bottom to follow the rotation. The windows are leaning either inwards or outwards, zero to seven degrees. No other skyscrapers have achieved anything as extreme.

Chrysler Building is situated on the East side of Manhattan. Chrysler Building is often cited as the epitome of the Art Deco skyscraper.

You can see the beautiful mural on the roof, the clock, and the beautiful elevators, each with its own custom-designed doors. This iconic skyscraper was built on an average rate of 4 floors per week.

No workers have died during the construction of this skyscraper despite the frantic space. Many modern architects consider Chrysler Building to be one of the greatest buildings in New York City.

Burj Khalifa Dubai:

Glittering building, in particular, is bound to catch your eye. The Burj Khalifa, this stunning skyscraper, had held the title for the tallest building in the world. This globally recognized office has 163 floors with house elegant hotel suites, luxurious apartments, and top-quality offices. It also got an outdoor observation deck guaranteeing terrifyingly exhilarating views of Dubai.

Gherkin

Gherkin is located in the main financial district of London. This iconic skyscraper was completed in December 2003. There are 40 floors. Its construction shows the beginning of a new high-rise construction boom in London. Due to the highly unconventional layout and facade of the building only uses half the power a similar tower would typically consume. One of the important occupants of the building is Swiss Re, a global reinsurance company.

Elephant Tower Bangkok Thailand:

If there’s one thing besides a smile that can represent Thai people, it's elephants. In this dusty district in northern Bangkok, you can catch a glimpse of this 102-meter high jumbo building with its tusks towering above a busy junction. It also highlights the importance of elephants in Thai culture and history. The building also nods towards Thailand’s high-tech offices, a shopping plaza, and a floor of luxury residential suites.

When its designs were revealed in 2004, the tower's DNA-shaped design stood out from almost all skyscrapers worldwide.

One world Trade Centre:

One world Trade Centre is one of the newest skies rises completed in Manhattan.

It was built at the site of the destroyed World Trade Center. It’s currently the tallest building in New York and in the entire western hemisphere. Like the Empire State Building, it offers astonishing panoramic views from above, including that of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Lower and Midtown parts of Manhattan, downtown Brooklyn. This beautiful tower has a significant symbolic meaning, especially for the New Yorkers. It represents hope, growth, a new beginning, and the strong ill and the uncompromising resilience of the city in the face of evil, terrorism, destruction, and horror.

Marina Bay Sands:

Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, these towers are monuments for an urban lifestyle. It has everything you ever wanted in one place like the resort, hotel, casino, museum, theatre, shopping mall, restaurants. It can accommodate 45000 people, and of course, the famous infinity pool offers a swim with the greatest panorama ever.

It is fascinating to go to the top of the highest skyscraper and observe the city you are visiting. And if there are excellent restaurants, shopping malls, and other activities, it becomes even more exciting.
