Compostela Valley,Philippines is a peaceful province located in Southeast Mindanao. This province is known for its gold mining. Compostela Valley is more popularly known as COMVAL that is a Haven.

Compostela valley is nature’s magnificent work of art. It stands as a strong tourist spot because of its beaches, waterfalls, forest, mountain ranges, caves, lakes, rivers, hot and cold springs. There are many activities that you can enjoy when you go to this new province. Being a budding tourism destination you can expect pristine and unspoiled attractions that only a few tourists have discovered yet.

Here are some things to do if you’re heading here.

See a giant flower: the rafflesia Mira is a parasitic plant that happens to be the biggest flower in the world. It’s a natural marvel and known for its bad odour despite its beautiful appearance. A good place to see this flower is at Mt. Candalaga. 

Awao Falls: it is commonly called as Fall 1. It is a curtain of cascading water dropping from a height of approximately 80 feet into a shallow and rocky catch basin. Despite of its grandeur, Awao falls is still generally offbeat and unspoiled. The local community is banking in its potential to attract more tourists and make it one of Mindanao’s tourist hotspots.

The world biggest rosary: it is located in the heart of Tangum City. The rosary garden is found at the back of New Christ the King Cathedral. It is simply amazing. Each bead weighs so heavy. It is not just a tourist attraction, but a reminder of our catholic faith.

Take a dip in a hot spring: if your main purpose to visit Compostela valley is to relax perhaps you’ll enjoy taking a dip in a nice hot spring. Hot springs are said to have healing properties because of their natural waters contain special minerals. One of the tourist spots in Compostela valley is the Mainit Sulphuric Hot Springs. It is also known as steaming waterfall. Being the home of Mt Leonard Kniazeff, one of the active volcanoes in the Philippines, the water at the falls is warm which will surely give you a soothing bath under its cascades. There are also some natural pools with warm water. You will surely enjoy the warm water of the hot springs that is said to improve blood circulation and relieve tired and aching muscles. If for an overnight stay there are cottages and some room.

One of the pride beach resorts of Comval province is the Sea World Oasis resort. This resort is located at Lower Lahi, Magnaga, and Pantukan Comval Province. This resort is commercialized. You can also buy souvenirs and dresses. They have a pool for Kids and adults. They also have Karaoke Machine where you can sing your favourite song; they also have a billiard table to make boys enjoy more fun. A diving spot is connected direct to the beach, if you don’t want to join the people in the pool.

You can further explore Compostela valley and discover more of what it has offer. You can choose to explore mountains and waterfalls. If you want to descent from the highlands and go coastal, why not visit the islands of Kopiat and Lunod. With white sands and rich underwater life, while the latter is popular as an eco tourism park, Lunod Island also becomes magical at night as the entire place is illuminated with thousand of fireflies.

Since gold made Comval famous, Bulawan festival is celebrated as a tribute to the famous metal. The local value the beauty in Compostela valley, you need to make sure you can’t destroy the beauty while enjoying it.
