Costa Rica Sports and Leisure

The possibilities are almost unlimited in the country. In its forests, beside the sea or rivers, lakes, or even in the ocean there is always fun to do.

The beaches

The beaches of Costa Rica is the perfect place to sunbathe, read, play sports, walk or sit. The color of the sand, waves and vegetation vary from one region to another.

 
 Outside the northern Pacific countries are concentrated most hotels and clubs, these beaches have remained for many in their natural state that makes all their beauty and charm.

Sea kayaking and river

Sea kayaking can be practiced in the Nicoya Peninsula in the Golfo Dulce and on the beaches of Manuel Antonio. River kayaking is practiced on the river San Juan, Rio Frio, on Lake Arenal and some estuaries.

The veil

Lake Arenal, located 1,700 meters above sea level, has been classified by the World Champions of windsurfing as "one of the five best places in the world for this sport." Regularity, speed and wind intensity will facilitate the practice of this sport, especially for beginners. More conventionally many beaches in the country can practice windsurfing.

Surfing

Pleasant temperatures of water, frequency, wave height attract many surfers around the world. They may travel to the Great beaches, Naranjo, Negra, Avellanas Langosta or Potrero, ideal destinations for surfers visiting the northern Pacific coast. In the central Pacific, it makes surfing at Boca Barranca, Caldera, Playa Jaco, Playa Hermosa and Playa Escondida, among others. In the South Pacific, this sport can be practiced in Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Pavones and Quepos. On the Atlantic coast beaches Bonita, Puerto Viejo, Manzanillo or Westfalia, also offer ideal conditions for surfing.

The Diving
Costa Rica Nature is also very rich in water. For lovers of the underwater life, the country proves exciting with over 1,000 species of fish that breed abundantly in the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean. In the Osa Peninsula, facing the Corcovado National Park, Caño Island has a beautiful and abundant marine life. Further offshore, Cocos Island is currently considered a laboratory-type for studying the evolution of species. This island territory of Costa Rica was included by UNESCO as World Heritage of Humanity.

Fishing

Sport fishing is practiced in the Gulf of Papagayo, Manuel Antonio and the Osa Peninsula, and Tortuguero. Grouper, swordfish, large tuna, dorado, wahoo, snapper are among the many species.

Down the river currents in Costa Rica on a raft, is one of the most popular adventures of the country. With modern equipment and a professional responsibility by boat, groups of 6 to 8 people enjoy every day of the beauty of the forest and rivers Reventazon Pacuare, General or Corobici.
